Modric Included in Croatia’s Nations League Squad

Luka Modric has been selected for Croatia’s 24-man squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches. The Real Madrid captain, who will turn 39 in September, has accumulated 178 caps since his debut in 2006.

Despite speculation about his future with the national team following Croatia’s early exit from Euro 2024, Modric’s place has been confirmed.

The uncertainty increased after team-mates Domagoj Vida and Marcelo Brozovic announced their retirements from international football.

Croatia’s head coach, Zlatko Dalic, expressed his satisfaction, saying, “I am happy that our captain remains on board. He is our great strength, both on and off the field.”

Modric, who renewed his contract with Real Madrid for another year in July, played in all three of Croatia’s Euro 2024 fixtures.

Croatia is set to compete in League A of the Nations League, starting with a match against Portugal on September 5, followed by a home game against Poland on September 8.
