NNPCL Explains Fuel Scarcity in Nigeria, Offers Solution

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has attributed the ongoing fuel shortages in Lagos, the Federal Capital Territory, and other regions to distribution challenges.

The company, in a statement released by its spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, on Sunday, emphasized that efforts are being intensified to resolve the issue, with a goal to restore normal fuel supply before midweek.

As fuel scarcity continues to worsen across the country, NNPCL, which remains Nigeria’s sole petrol importer, reassured the public that it is collaborating closely with key players in the oil and gas industry to address the problem and return to stable supply levels.

“We regret the tight fuel supply currently being experienced in parts of Lagos and the FCT, which is due to distribution challenges,” the statement read.

NNPCL also advised motorists to avoid panic buying, stressing that the situation is being addressed with urgency to ensure a swift return to normalcy.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority had previously issued a warning to fuel stations against the illegal sale of petrol amid the escalating scarcity.
