The Court of Appeal has taken a bold step, ordering former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello to present himself for arraignment, following allegations of misappropriating over N80 billion during his eight-year tenure.
The court has restrained Bello from taking further action in the charge unless he is arraigned, setting aside the previous judgment delivered by the Kogi State High Court.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been actively pursuing Bello, who has been in hiding since a raid on his Abuja residence a few months ago, with Governor Usman Ododo thwarting the initial arrest attempt.
EFCC is currently prosecuting Bello for alleged misappropriation of over N80 billion while he was a governor for eight years.
The Appeal Court’s ruling paves the way for Bello’s arraignment, bringing him closer to facing justice for the alleged financial misconduct during his governorship.
