Sokoto State Governor Ahmad Aliyu has announced the release of N300 million for the monthly payment of gratuities to civil servants who retired in 2024.
This was revealed in a statement signed by Sirajo Ibrahim Gada, the Public Relations Officer for the state Ministry of Finance, Alhaji Umar Balarabe Ahmad.
According to Gada, payment will support retirees from the Public Service who left their positions from January 2024 onwards.
The State Accountant General and Chairman of the Sokoto State Gratuity Payment Committee, said that this initiative reflects the Governor’s commitment to assisting retirees during these challenging times.
He also noted that the process of clearing backlog gratuities from 2015 to December 2023 is nearly complete.
Efforts are underway to streamline the payment process for 2024 retirees, focusing on a priority-based payment system.
