Tragedy has struck the Nsukka university community in Enugu State, where a four-year-old girl was reportedly decapitated.
The disturbing incident happened on the night of the previous Sunday in a suburb near Ikpa Market, within Nru Community.
The accused, identified as Emeka Owo from Nkanu East Local Government Area, previously led security operations at Ikpa Market. Witnesses revealed that Owo arrived at the victim’s residence under the pretense of needing blood, ultimately targeting the sleeping child.
The victim, whose name has not been disclosed, is the daughter of Mr. Ndubisi Ugwu, a resident of Abuja. Owo later returned to his home with the child’s severed head, prompting neighbors to alert the authorities.
Police quickly apprehended him after he himself called for their intervention.
The case has been transferred to the Homicide Unit of the Enugu State Police Command for further investigation.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, has requested confirmation of the incident’s location for further verification.
