The Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) has issued a dire warning to the government, urging immediate action to address the escalating insecurity crisis in Nigeria.
Archbishop Daniel Okoh President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and Sultan Alhaji Muhammed Sa’ad Abubakar, Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), leaders of the Christian and Islamic communities, jointly condemned the recent surge in banditry, abductions, and killings, citing gruesome incidents in Niger and Sokoto states.

In a statement signed on their behalf by NIREC’s Executive Secretary, Fr. Prof. Cornelius Omonokhua, the leaders urged the government and security agencies to intensify efforts to eradicate these threats, ensuring citizens can go about their daily lives without fear or apprehension.
