SEMA Sounds Alarm Urges Bauchi Residents to Vacate Flood-Prone Areas

The Bauchi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has issued a dire warning to residents living in flood-prone areas to immediately vacate their homes due to escalating flood threats.

Director General Mas’ud Aliyu emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, “Those residing in flood-prone areas must take precaution and leave their homes now.”

He added, “So far, four people have been confirmed dead due to the recent floods that have affected communities in Shira, Giade, and Katagum Local Government Areas of Bauchi State.”

The recent floods have already claimed four lives and severely impacted communities in Shira, Giade, and Katagum Local Government Areas, with extensive farmlands submerged and homes destroyed.

Giade, Katagum, and Shira Local Government Areas have been the hardest hit, with fatalities reported due to building collapses and floodwaters.

The Bauchi State Agricultural Development Program is urging farmers to remain resilient, stressing that the current farming season still holds potential despite the challenges posed by climate uncertainties and flooding.
