The new Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, MON, officially took office on August 28, 2024.
He was welcomed by the former Director General, Alhaji Yusuf Magaji Bichi, CFR, fwc, who briefed him on important matters.
They both reminisced about their past work together and expressed mutual respect and admiration.
During a meeting with the management and staff, the former DG urged everyone to support Mr. Ajayi in his new role.
Mr. Ajayi emphasized the need for unity among the staff and encouraged them to stay disciplined and professional in their duties.
He promised to work with all relevant stakeholders with a strong sense of responsibility to address the challenges facing Nigeria, especially in economic, political, and security areas.
His goal is to achieve the peace and stability needed for the country’s development.
A key moment of the event was when the former DG handed over the Service flag and other symbols of office to Mr. Ajayi.
Afterward, Mr. Ajayi toured the National Headquarters, visiting different sections and encouraging staff to remain vigilant, dedicated, and loyal to the Service and the nation.
In his remarks, Mr. Ajayi pledged to steer the DSS towards greater secrecy and a strategic silence on certain matters.
