Badaru Urges Nigerian Air Force to Intensify Efforts Against Insecurity in Northwest
The Honourable Minister of Defence, H.E. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has called on the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to ramp up its airspace dominance to help curb the persistent insecurity in Nigeria, with a particular focus on the North-West region.
During his visit to the 213 Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Katsina State on Friday, the Minister pledged additional resources, including attack helicopters and drones, to bolster the NAF’s operational capacity against bandits and terrorists. “We are deploying additional platforms to enhance your capabilities and eliminate bandits and terrorists,” Abubakar stated, emphasizing the urgency of the mission.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Abubakar assured the troops of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dedication to resolving security challenges. “Mr. President is pleased with your progress and will provide the necessary equipment and support your welfare,” he conveyed, adding, “End it now, please. End insecurity now.”
In his address to senior officers and personnel at FOB Zurmi and Gurbi Baure, the Minister acknowledged their renewed dedication and the strides made in combating insecurity across the region. “I have seen you, you are all charged. The progress we are recording so far indicates that you have the capacity and the will to end it,” he said. “With your commitment in recent months, there has been notable progress every day, and I believe insecurity will end as quickly as possible.”
The Minister also praised Zamfara and Katsina States for their cooperation in the ongoing security efforts. “All the states are cooperating,” he noted, highlighting a recent strategy meeting with the governors of Katsina and Zamfara and the National Security Adviser. “With the new command and the public’s support, we are reassured that insecurity will soon end, particularly in the Northwest.”
The visit underscored the Defence Ministry’s resolve to intensify security operations and its alignment with the federal government’s overarching security goals.
