    Fire destroys two-storey building in Anambra

    A raging fire has gutted a two-storey building on Ifejika Street, near Sokoto Road in Onitsha, Anambra State, with emergency responders working to bring the situation under control.

     

    The fire, which reportedly started around 6:20 a.m., quickly spread to a nearby building, causing panic among residents and traders in the area. While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, witnesses say efforts are underway to salvage goods and property from the affected buildings.

     

    Confirming the incident, the Head of Media and Publicity for the Anambra State Fire Service, Chukwudi Chiketa, assured the public that firefighters had been deployed and were actively combating the blaze.

     

    “The Anambra State Fire Service is currently on intervention at the scene. The distress call came at 6:20 a.m., and our team responded immediately. The public is advised to remain calm as the situation is under control,” Chiketa stated.

     

    Firefighters, alongside residents and passersby, are making frantic efforts to contain the fire and prevent further damage, while authorities investigate the cause of the outbreak.
