Members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) have arrested two suspected robbers who specialize in targeting commercial tricycle operators and passengers on flyover bridges in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The suspects, identified as Muhammad Abubakar and Misbahu Abubakar, were apprehended on Wednesday night at Nyanya Bridge after allegedly robbing a tricycle operator of ₦20,000 and attempting to escape.

John Samuel, Commander of the VGN in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), confirmed the arrest, stating that the victim’s alarm alerted vigilante patrol officers, who swiftly pursued and captured the suspects.

“The money was recovered from them and returned to the owner,” Samuel said.

Following their arrest, the suspects were taken to the vigilante office in Nyanya for profiling before being handed over to the police for further investigation.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to tackling criminal activities in the FCT, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements.
