Tinubu’s Endorsement an Insult to Our Pain – Arewa Voters Forum Tells N’West APC

A coalition of concerned northern voters under the aegis of the Arewa Voters Forum, Northwest Zone has strongly condemned the recent endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027 by All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders during a political gathering held in Kaduna.

In a press statement signed and made available to newsmen today by Comrade Idrith Ibrahim Unguwar Gini on behalf of the Forum, the group described the move as a “heartless betrayal” of the region’s ongoing hardships, particularly the unrelenting spate of banditry, kidnappings, terrorism, poverty, and decaying infrastructure.

“At a time when the Northwest is bleeding and mourning thousands of innocent lives, this political jamboree is nothing short of a callous insult to the dead and the suffering,” the statement read. “Rather than confront the agonizing realities our people face daily, our so-called leaders chose premature political theatrics that reek of insensitivity and irresponsibility.”

The Forum expressed shock that governors from states battling insecurity, broken schools, and poor healthcare would prioritize political endorsement over addressing the dire needs of their citizens. “What kind of leadership chooses pageantry over purpose?” the group queried.

The endorsement, according to the group, not only ignores the developmental and security challenges crippling the region but also allegedly violates the provisions of the Electoral Act by engaging in what they described as “a veiled campaign two years ahead of the polls.”

They warned that the premature endorsement smacks of political manipulation and intimidation, aimed at silencing opposition voices and undermining the principles of democratic participation.

“We categorically reject this endorsement as a betrayal of trust and a shameless mockery of the suffering masses,” the statement emphasized.

While calling on the people of the Northwest to remain vigilant and politically conscious, the Arewa Voters Forum urged voters to “use the ballot in 2027 to cast away those who have turned their backs on your pain in pursuit of personal political survival.”

The Forum reaffirmed its commitment to standing as the “voice of the voiceless” and holding all political actors accountable, regardless of party affiliations.

“The people are watching. And in 2027, the ballot will speak,” the statement concluded.
