Breaking: Kidnapped Benue Links passengers regain freedom

Thirteen passengers of Benue Links who were abducted last week at Eke in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State have regained their freedom, following a coordinated rescue mission led by the police and supported by local vigilante groups.

The Chairman of Okpokwu LGA, Adah Inalegwu who confirmed the successful operation today, highlighted that the joint team of police personnel and community vigilantes launched a sweeping search of the forest, intensifying pressure on the abductors.

According to him, that effort yielded results on Saturday with the rescue of two captives. More reinforcements came from youth mobilised from neighbouring Kogi State, thus increasing pressure on the kidnappers.

The intensified action, he noted, forced the abductors to release the remaining eleven victims about 4pm today at Oando village.

The Chairman attributed the operation’s success to enhanced logistics provided by the Benue State Governor, Rev. Hyacinth Alia, as well as strengthened surveillance and tracking capabilities.

“The provision of logistics by Governor Hyacinth Alia, with improved security surveillance and tracking, led to the rescue of the victims,” he said.
