BREAKING: Buhari’s body arrives Katsina for burial*
Former President Muhammadu Buhari’s remains have arrived in Katsina State following his death in London on Sunday.
The body was flown in earlier today, with Vice President Kashim Shettima accompanying the casket on the flight back from London
Buhari, 82, died while receiving medical treatment abroad. His death has continued to create reactions from Nigerians across the country, with tributes pouring in from political figures, citizens, and world leaders.
Tight security has been put in place around Daura, his hometown in Katsina State, as final burial preparations are underway. The interment is expected to follow Islamic rites, with dignitaries and mourners expected to gather for the ceremony.
The federal government, which had earlier
announced a seven-day national mourning period in honour of the late former president also declared today Tuesday, July 15, a public holiday.
