Breaking: Atiku Abubakar resigns from PDP
Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ending a decades-long association with the party he helped to build.
In a letter he addressed to the Chairman of the PDP in his Jada 1 Ward, Jada LGA, Adamawa State,
dated July 14, 2025
Atiku said he was quitting the party with immediate effect, citing irreconcilable differences and a deviation from the party’s founding principles.
He expressed “profound gratitude” for the opportunities PDP gave him over the years, especially his two-term tenure as Vice President and two presidential runs under the party’s platform.
Atiku, while wishing the party and its leadership well, concluded, “Thank you once again for the opportunities and support.”
