Security Forces Foil Kidnap Attempt, Rescue Two Injured Victims Near Zuma Rock
Troops of the Nigerian Army stationed near Zuma Barracks in Niger State successfully foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued two victims following a gun duel with suspected bandits in the early hours of Wednesday.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. behind Zuma Rock, close to Chachi Village in Tafa Local Government Area, after security personnel responded to reports of sporadic gunfire in the area.
Upon arriving at the scene, the troops discovered a black 2008 Honda Accord with registration number KUR 395 AA abandoned in a pit. The vehicle had multiple gunshot holes on its front doors, indicating a violent confrontation.
According to sources, the troops had engaged the assailants in a firefight, successfully thwarting the attempted abduction and rescuing the vehicle’s occupants.
The rescued victims were identified as Samson Audu, a resident of Bakusa, Dei-Dei, and his girlfriend, Joy Bassy. Both sustained injuries during the attack—Audu was shot in the right hand, while Bassy suffered a head injury.
They were immediately taken to Right Care Hospital in Dakwa, where they are currently receiving medical attention and reported to be in stable condition.
Security has since been intensified in the area to prevent further incidents and pursue the fleeing attackers.
