Tinubu Greets Shettima at 59, Commends His Loyalty, Competence
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday extolled the virtues of Vice President Kashim Shettima as he clocked 59, describing him as a loyal partner, dependable leader, and an example of service to the nation.
In a statement personally signed by him and issued by the State House, the President said Shettima has remained unwavering in courage, duty, and commitment since their joint mandate began, noting that his choice as running mate in 2023 was based on competence and proven leadership.
“Every day, as Vice President, you have justified that choice by strengthening our work, bringing fresh perspectives, and upholding our commitment to Nigerians. Your dedication reassures me that I did not make a mistake in choosing you as my deputy,” Tinubu said.
The President highlighted Shettima’s record of public service, citing his eight years as Governor of Borno State and his tenure as Senator representing Borno Central, where he demonstrated that “leadership is service, not privilege, even in the face of immense challenges.”
Tinubu also praised the Vice President’s role in driving reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda, from food security to attracting global partnerships and investments, stressing that their collaboration would continue to yield tangible results for Nigerians.
“Our relationship transcends official duties. It is a bridge across regions and traditions, united in purpose and service. You remind us of what is possible when Nigeria comes first — an example worthy of emulation by those who aspire to lead,” the President added.
