    FG Receives 130 Hectares from Ogun State for Inland Port Terminal

    The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy (FMM&BE), is set to develop an inland Port Terminal in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, to facilitate trade and alleviate pressure on existing Western Ports. This initiative gained momentum with the official handover of 130 hectares of land by Ogun State to the Federal Government.

    The Permanent Secretary, FMM&BE, Olufemi Oloruntola, signed the “Transfer of Rights”, “Control”, and “Possession” on behalf of the Federal Government, assuring that the Port’s development would be completed soon.

    Representing the State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, the Commissioner of Transportation, Engr. Gbenga Dairo confirmed the State’s commitment to facilitating the project aims at creating the enabling environment for the construction of an inland Port Terminal within the Ijebu-Ode economic cluster area.

    According to a statement by Anastasia Ogbonna, FMM&BE’s Director of Information and Public Relations, the facility which is to be named “Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port” upon completion, will, among others, enhance intermodal transportation in the State and Western Ports.

    The handover ceremony was witnessed by key stakeholders, including the Director, Maritime Services, Dr. Mercy Ilori, and the Executive Secretary, Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Pius Akutah.
