Legacy lives on: Dr Keshinro Urges Retirees to Keep Giving Back

In a heartfelt sendoff ceremony held in Abuja, the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs bade farewell to 19 dedicated civil servants with an urge on them to lend their wealth of experience to nation-building.

The Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Maryam Ismaila Keshinro, at the event in honour of the 2025 retirees, emphasized the importance of harnessing their expertise for the greater good of the country.

She urged the retired staff to lend their expertise to nation-building, emphasizing the value of their experience in driving efficient, productive, and citizen-centered service delivery.

Dr. Keshinro noted that “bringing back the wealth of experience garnered throughout your 35 years of service in different capacities across government ministries, departments, and agencies was immeasurable”

“What you know, many do not know, and experience cannot be bought in the market,” she emphasized.

The Permanent Secretary described retirement as a privilege, noting that some who started their careers with the retirees are no longer alive. “Some who began this journey with you are no longer here for so many reasons, but you are here today, strong and looking good. We celebrate you and the Almighty God who has kept you,” Dr. Keshinro stated.

She commended the staff for their good working relationship with colleagues and dedication to the nation’s service. She also called on those still in service to maintain commitment and patriotism in order to ensure the realization of government’s policy objectives.

Responding on behalf of the retirees, Director of Women Development Department (retired), Mrs. Friya Bulus commended the Ministry’s management for the honour and expressed gratitude to God for sustaining them throughout their service.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of souvenirs to the retirees, marking a milestone in their illustrious careers.
