Prof. Duna Receives 2025 Outstanding SERVICOM Director-General Award.
The Director-General of the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI), Professor Samson Duna, has received the Most Outstanding and Supportive Director General Award in the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology (FMIST).
The prestigious award, presented as part of activities marking the 2025 Customer Service Week of the National SERVICOM framework, was handed to him Wednesday February 4, in his Office by the Deputy Director, Reform Coordination Service Improvement and Innovation (RCSII), Mrs. Ekpo Emma.
Mrs. Emma acknowledged the Director-General’s exemplary leadership in strengthening service delivery standards, improving stakeholder satisfaction, and embedding a culture of accountability, transparency, and performance across the Institute.
She commended the NBRRI Director-General for aligning the Institute’s operations with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in areas such as infrastructure innovation, research-driven development, and citizen-focused public service.
According to her, the recognition reflects the deliberate reforms undertaken at NBRRI to reposition it as a responsive, result-oriented research institution, highlighting that the Director-General demonstrated how public institutions can deliver timely, efficient, and impactful services when leadership is anchored on professionalism and innovation.
The SERVICOM National Coordinator, Mrs. Ngozi Akinbodewa; represented by Mr. Sesugh Dubara noted that under the Director-General’s stewardship, NBRRI has recorded measurable improvements in service delivery processes, turnaround time, stakeholder engagement and compliance with the Compact’s principles, while advancing research outputs that directly support national development in building materials, road construction and sustainable infrastructure.
The Director-General, Prof. Samson Duna expressed delight over the recognition and dedicated it to the management and staff of NBRRI, describing the award as a collective achievement driven by teamwork, discipline as well as a shared commitment to excellence.
He reaffirmed the Institute’s resolve to further deepen reforms, enhance service standards, and deliver innovative solutions that meet Nigeria’s infrastructure needs.
In a statement by the Ministry’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Mrs Pauline Sule, the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology reiterated its commitment to rewarding excellence and promoting a service-oriented culture across its Agencies, Departments and Units, noting that such recognitions are critical to driving continuous innovation and improvement in public service delivery.
