Injured in Jigawa as Hoodlums Torch APC Secretariat

In the midst of the protests against hardship and hunger, Jigawa State witnessed an unrest on Thursday, resulting in at least 10 injuries as police deployed teargas to disperse hoodlums mingling with legitimate #EndBadGovernance protesters.

The protests erupted in over 10 major towns, leading to widespread destruction and looting of government properties.

In Hadejia, four individuals were hospitalized due to injuries and teargas exposure.

Hoodlums also targeted government-owned agricultural stores in the area.

In Gumel, the Jigawa State Agricultural Supply Company (JASCO) store, a private residence of a House of Representatives member, and the home of the APC zonal vice chairman were vandalized and looted.

A woman injured by teargas is receiving treatment at Gumel General Hospital.

Birnin Kudu also saw its State Fertilizer and Grains Stores looted, with hoodlums blocking major roads, including the Kano-Maiduguri Highway.

In Dutse, the state capital, five people were hospitalized due to injuries while the APC state secretariat was set on fire. Security forces managed to prevent further destruction of public properties.

Similar scenes of chaos were reported in Jahun, Kazaure, and Shuwarin towns, with hoodlums posing as protesters demanding an end to bad governance.

There is growing concern that the unrest could spread to other local government areas despite calls from Islamic clerics and Traditional Rulers to avoid joining the protests.
