Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike has praised the peaceful nature of the protests in Abuja, stressing the significance of the capital’s security to the nation’s overall stability.
Wike’s comments came during the presentation of the Staff of Office to four newly graded Chiefs in Abuja.
The #EndBadGovernanceinNigeria protests began at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja, with protesters arriving early in the morning.
Despite the court order limiting the protest to this venue, some incidents of violence were reported, prompting security forces to use tear gas to control the situation.
Businesses, banks, and some markets in the city shut down in anticipation of potential unrest.
Wike emphasized the importance of dialogue between protesters and the government and urged citizens to be patient with President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He reaffirmed that working together could lead to significant achievements and called for continued peaceful protests and open dialogue to address grievances and promote peace.
