Shehu Sani Calls for Protest Suspension and Dialogue with Government

Shehu Sani, the former Senator for Kaduna Central, has called on the organizers of the EndBadGovernance protests to enter into negotiations with both the Federal and state governments.

Sani suggested that, following President Bola Tinubu’s recent national address, the protests should be paused. He emphasized that democracy functions best when citizens engage in dialogue with their leaders to address grievances.

On X, Sani stated: “In light of the President’s speech, protesters should suspend their demonstrations and form a team to negotiate with the government at both federal and state levels. This is how democracy operates.”

Since last Thursday, Nigerians have been protesting against the country’s economic difficulties. Their demands include the reinstatement of fuel subsidies, better living conditions, reduced government spending, lower electricity tariffs, and measures to address growing insecurity.

In response to the protests, President Tinubu addressed the nation on Sunday.
