Katsina state eases 24-hours curfew restrictions in Dustsinma LGA as situation improves

In a significant move, Katsina State’s Acting Governor, Faruk Lawal, has relaxed the 24-hour curfew imposed on Dutsinma Local Government Area, citing improved security conditions.

The curfew has been revised to 7:00 pm to 7:00 am, aligning with the restrictions in place for the state’s 33 Local Government Areas.

The decision follows a report of enhanced security in the area and comes as the state continues to grapple with the aftermath of violent protests and lootings.

The Acting Governor, however, appreciated the civil manner in which the security agents handled the hoodlums who hijacked the peaceful protest to commit criminal activities.

Lawal commended security agents for their professional handling of the situation and thanked parents, guardians, and community leaders for cautioning their children and youths against participating in the unrest.

Meanwhile, the state security council has announced the arrest of several youths in connection with the recent violence, lootings, and vandalism.

The Secretary to the Government of Katsina State, Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari, revealed that some of those arrested have been charged to court for various offenses, including criminal conspiracy, public disturbance, vandalism, and theft.

The state government has appealed for calm and law-abiding behavior, assuring citizens that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of lives and property.
