    PDP Suspends 14 Party Bigwigs

The Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has enacted a new round of suspensions, affecting 14 influential members, including former Governor Gabriel Suswam and Terngu Tsegba.

This move comes in response to accusations of severe insubordination and misconduct.

The suspended individuals also include Richard Gbande, Terseer Tsumba, and Nicholas Ada, along with the Party Chairmen from various local government areas.

The party’s State Publicity Secretary, Bemgba Iortyom, announced these actions following a meeting held on August 7, 2024, where the members were summoned to address allegations of undermining the party’s interests.

The charges include mismanagement of campaign funds, factional support, internal media disputes, and litigation against the party.

Specifically, former Senator Suswam is accused of acting in favor of the APC Governor Hyacinth Alia, allegedly promoting the Governor even while the PDP’s own candidate, Titus Uba, contested the election results in court.

Despite the opportunity for a preliminary discussion, the individuals involved did not comply and even criticized the party publicly.

In response, the PDP has suspended them for one month and ordered them to appear before the Disciplinary Committee at a later date.
