Carragher Warns Chelsea About Cole Palmer’s Form, Predicts Managerial Change

Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher has cautioned Chelsea that Cole Palmer, who was their standout player last season, might not replicate his previous form this year.

Carragher also forecasted that Chelsea’s manager, Enzo Maresca, could be dismissed before the end of the 2024/25 season.

Palmer had an impressive debut season with Chelsea, scoring 22 goals and providing 11 assists in 33 Premier League matches under former manager Mauricio Pochettino, who was dismissed after finishing sixth.

Chelsea replaced Pochettino with Maresca, formerly of Leicester City. On *The Overlap*, Carragher commented on Chelsea’s situation, noting that Pochettino’s contribution was significant to Palmer’s success.

He suggested that Palmer’s performance might not reach the same heights under the new manager.

Carragher expressed concern over Chelsea’s pre-season and their challenging start to the season against Manchester City. He remarked that he would be surprised if Maresca remains in charge by the season’s end.
