Kidnappers Demand ₦50 Million for Release of Kogi State University Students

The abductors of two Kogi State University, Kabba (KSUK) students have demanded ₦50 million for their release. The students were kidnapped last Friday, the same day that Dare Micheal, the Caretaker Chairman of Kabba/Bunu Council, and his three aides were also abducted.

While Dare Micheal was released due to his health condition, the three aides and the students remain in captivity. The kidnappers initially demanded ₦100 million for the chairman’s aides and have now lowered their demand to ₦50 million for the students, Isaac Babalola and Joel Bamiyo, both from the Public Administration Department.

Shadrach Babalola, the parent of one of the students, revealed that the kidnappers have been persistent with their demands. When Babalola offered a lower amount, the kidnappers reportedly dismissed the offer, suggesting that the money should be used to buy Maggi seasoning.

Babalola has called on the state government to intervene and assist in securing the release of the students, expressing concern and distress over the prolonged situation.

The Kogi Police Command stated they were unaware of the students’ abduction and questioned why the parents had not reported the case formally. The Kogi State University administration has not yet issued a statement regarding the incident.
