Severe Flooding Damages Key Federal Highway in Bauchi State

A recent heavy downpour has caused severe damage to the federal highway linking Kano to Maiduguri, especially between Malori and Guskuri villages in Bauchi State’s Katagum Local Government Area.

The flooding has created a substantial crater in the road, compelling motorists to seek alternative routes.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Muhammad, who visited the site to assess the damage, underscored the road’s importance as a critical link between Nigeria’s Northwest and Northeast regions.

Governor Muhammad urged the Federal Government to urgently repair the road to ensure the smooth transportation of goods and services.

“This is a major highway, the Northeast highway, and the dual carriageways have been completely washed away,” Governor Muhammad stated. “We are calling on the federal government to assist and will report this issue to Abuja through the Controller of Works.

If the issue is not addressed promptly, we will implement remedial or permanent measures ourselves, as we did during the last rainy season.”

The flooding in Bauchi State has led to extensive damage across several local government areas this year.
