Niger Delta Can Feed Nigeria Through Agriculture- NDBDA Chief

Chief Ebitimi Amgbare, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Basin Development Authority (NDBDA), emphasized the critical role of collaborations in unlocking the agricultural potential of the Niger Delta region.

Speaking at the Niger Delta International Festival and Expo/Economic Summit in Abuja, Amgbare asserted that the region has the capacity to adequately feed Nigeria and eliminate the need for fish imports.

In a statement released on Friday in Yenagoa, Amgbare highlighted the Niger Delta’s rich biodiversity and water resources as key assets for enhancing food production.

He noted that harnessing these resources could enable the region to supply fish and other agricultural products nationwide.

“Since I assumed office, our primary focus has been on fostering collaboration,” Amgbare said, commending the event organizers and the Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Mr. Abubakar Momoh, for their efforts in promoting regional economic transformation.

The NDBDA is dedicated to leveraging the region’s agricultural potential to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s food security and economic development.
