APC Knocks Bauchi Governor For Criticizing Tinubu

The Bauchi State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized Governor Bala Mohammed for his recent comments against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

The party said that the governor’s discontent stems from a Supreme Court ruling that granted financial autonomy to local governments across Nigeria, thereby restricting the governor’s access to funds that were allegedly being misused.

Governor Mohammed, a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had recently attacked President Tinubu’s policies, particularly in light of the #EndBadGovernance protests, accusing the administration of implementing measures that have worsened the hardship faced by citizens.

In response, the APC, through its State Publicity Committee Chairman, Malam Saadu Umar, defended the president’s policies, asserting that they have led to improvements both nationally and within Bauchi State.

The party argued that while challenges exist, President Tinubu’s leadership has resulted in positive economic developments, including increased monthly allocations to states.

APC also disclodsed that Governor Mohammed’s criticism of the removal of the fuel subsidy is unfounded, given that he had previously supported similar policies during his tenure as a minister in President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

Moreover, the party accused Governor Mohammed of financial mismanagement, alleging that despite receiving substantial funds, including N87.4 billion from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) in the first half of the year, he has prioritized spending on questionable projects and consultants rather than addressing critical needs like workers’ welfare and pension payments.

The APC concluded by calling on President Tinubu and the National Assembly to strip governors of the power to oversee local government council elections, arguing that this would promote fairer and more transparent electoral processes at the grassroots level.
