The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the Nigeria Police Force, demanding the release of all student leaders and peaceful protesters detained in several states, including Akure, Kaduna, Jos, and Kano.
NANS expressed strong disapproval of the arrests, urging the governors of the affected states to take immediate action to prevent further escalation.
The association said that the protests were conducted in accordance with constitutional rights, specifically emphasizing the right to freedom of expression and assembly.
NANS also called for a commitment from authorities to respect these rights and ensure the safety of students protesting without fear of intimidation or arrest.
