Bandits launched a deadly ambush on soldiers patrolling the Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State, resulting in the deaths of four soldiers.
The attack, which took place over the weekend, also left two others injured.
The attackers reportedly set fire to two patrol vehicles during the assault.
The incident was confirmed by Yahya Gudu, the representative of Gudu in the state House of Assembly.
He described the attack as a tragic event and noted that Governor Ahmed Aliyu was informed immediately.
In response, reinforcements have been deployed to the area.
A local resident, speaking anonymously, mentioned that the bandits passed through the area on 20 motorcycles, each carrying two armed men.
They did not harm or kidnap anyone in the community, but soon after, gunfire erupted, indicating the ambush on the soldiers.
The bodies of the fallen soldiers were later retrieved by their comrades.
