Acting Governor Faruk Lawal has lifted the curfew in Katsina State, effective immediately, following reports of restored peace and harmony. The decision aims to enable citizens to resume their daily activities without hindrance.
This is contained in a statement on Tuesday made available to newsmen in Katsina by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Faskari.
The statement read, “Following reports on the prevailing peace and harmony all over Katsina State, the Acting Governor, Faruk Lawal, has lifted the curfew imposed on the state with immediate effect.
“The acting governor’s order for lifting of the curfew was to enable people go about their normal businesses unhindered.
“However, people were cautioned to report any suspicious movement by an individual or group of people to the relevant authorities.
While the curfew has been lifted, citizens are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
The state government remains committed to addressing security challenges and appreciates the support of security agencies and citizens.
Acting Governor Lawal expressed gratitude for the understanding and cooperation of the people and appealed for continued support, cooperation, and prayers for lasting peace in the state, emphasizing that development cannot thrive in an insecure environment.
