    FG To Hire 3500 Teachers

    The Federal Government has revealed plans to hire 3,500 new teachers for Federal Unity Colleges across the country.

    Dr. Yusuf Sununu, the Minister of State for Education, shared this development at a National Stakeholders’ Forum on Senior Secondary Education in Nigeria.

    The forum, themed “Revitalising Senior Secondary Education in Nigeria for Global Competitiveness,” aimed to address the challenges in secondary education.

    Dr. Sununu said that this recruitment effort, is supported by the Office of the Head of Service and the Federal Civil Service Commission, will improve educational quality.

    He also revealed that over 1,000 staff members have been trained in educational technology and that more than 53 vocational skills centers have been established.

    Additionally, approval has been granted for the construction of 50 new model schools to further support education improvements.

    The Minister explained that the aim of the initiative is to enhance the educational system to meet global standards.

    Rep. Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives, urged for a comprehensive revision of the senior secondary curriculum to align with international standards.

    Challenges such as insufficient qualified teachers and inadequate infrastructure were noted.

    Dr. Iyela Ajayi, Executive Secretary of the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC), stressed the importance of stakeholder engagement in implementing national education policies.
