The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced a new policy regarding the collection of unclaimed certificates of national service.
Effective immediately, ex-corps members who fail to collect their certificates within a specified period will be required to pay a fee based on the duration of delay.
The fees are structured as follows:
– Certificates unclaimed for up to 5 years: A fee of N5,000
– Certificates unclaimed for 5 to 9 years: A fee of N10,000
– Certificates unclaimed for 10 years and above: A fee of N20,000
This decision is aimed at encouraging timely collection of certificates by ex-corps members and reducing the backlog of unclaimed certificates at various NYSC offices across the country.
The NYSC has urged all affected individuals to visit their respective state secretariats to collect their certificates and avoid incurring additional charges.
