Tinubu Orders Immediate Reconstruction of Collapsed Wagga Bridge

President Bola Tinubu has given the green light for the reconstruction of the Wagga bridge, which connects Adamawa and Borno, following its collapse due to heavy rainfall.

This development comes just three days after the bridge was washed away.

The Director-General of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), Mohammed Goni, shared this update during his second inspection of the bridge within two months in the Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

Goni explained that although an assessment had been conducted during a previous visit, the situation has since deteriorated, leading to the complete collapse of the bridge.

The Director-General highlighted that the damage to the bridge has occurred multiple times, but fortunately, President Tinubu has now authorized immediate reconstruction efforts to alleviate the difficulties faced by travelers on this route.

Goni also noted that while ongoing rainfall might delay the start of reconstruction, alternative measures would be put in place to ensure that vehicles can continue to move along the road.

He assured that temporary solutions would be explored to facilitate movement for those traveling from Maiduguri.
