Adamawa Governor Approves N70,000 Minimum Wage for State Workers

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has approved a new minimum wage of N70,000 for state and local government workers.

The announcement was made by Comrade Emmanuel Fashe, chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, following a meeting with organized labor leaders on Monday afternoon.

Fashe confirmed that state government employees will start receiving the new wage this month, while local government workers will see the increase beginning next month.

The new wage will be implemented using the same consequential adjustment table as the previous N32,000 minimum wage from 2019, pending updated guidelines from the National Salaries, Wages, and Income Commission.

Fashe noted, “Whatever the worker was getting as the present national minimum wage of N32,000 in Adamawa State, that same percentage will apply in the new minimum wage implementation.”

He praised Governor Fintiri for his commitment to worker welfare, stating that the governor approved the new wage even before receiving the updated table from the commission.
