In the Shirgi Community of Batsari Local Government Area, Katsina State, the gunmen in their numbers are also said to have shot one person, injured another, and kidnapped 28 more.
During the attack, they were also said to have taken an unknown quantity of domestic animals from the village.
A local resident, who requested anonymity, confirmed that the person killed was Amadu Suru, who was shot while attempting to secure his animals at their pen.
The resident reported that the attackers entered the village on Sunday night and targeted specific homes during their raid.
He said women and children were the main kidnap victims.
“Many people were initially taken by the bandits but eventually some of them escaped along the way as they were walking through thick farms. But by our count, 28 are still with them,” he said.
