    Ex ICPC Boss, Ayoola Dies

    Justice Emmanuel Olayinka Ayoola, a former chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has passed away at the age of 90. 

    The news of his death was confirmed by his family on Wednesday, noting that he died on Tuesday.

    Justice Ayoola had a long and illustrious career in the judiciary, serving in various capacities throughout his life.

    Born in Ilesa, Osun State, he pursued his legal education at the University of London, where he earned his law degree.

    He was called to the bar in 1957 and began his legal career in Nigeria shortly thereafter.

    Justice Ayoola’s career was marked by numerous achievements, including his appointment as a Judge of the High Court of Western Nigeria in 1976.

    He later served as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and was also appointed as the Chief Justice of The Gambia.

    His expertise and commitment to justice led to his appointment as the chairman of the ICPC in 2005, where he played a pivotal role in combating corruption in Nigeria.

    Throughout his life, Justice Ayoola was known for his integrity, dedication to the rule of law, and his contributions to the legal profession in Nigeria and beyond.

    He is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren.
