Tinubu cancels return trip to France

President Bola Tinubu has decided to remain in Abuja instead of returning to France, contrary to earlier reports.

Sources within the Presidential Villa confirmed that Tinubu is currently at Aso Rock in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Initially, it was anticipated that Tinubu would head back to France following the swearing-in of Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

Flight tracking data had suggested that his plane was scheduled to depart for Nice, France, on Friday afternoon, after arriving in Abuja from the same location the previous day.

However, fresh updates indicate that the planned flight for the presidential aircraft has been called off.

President Tinubu had previously cut short his trip to France to return to Nigeria for the swearing-in ceremony of Justice Kekere-Ekun, who takes over from the retired Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.

The ceremony took place at the State House, Abuja, where Justice Kekere-Ekun was appointed as the 23rd CJN in an acting capacity, pending Senate confirmation.
