In the lead-up to the Edo State governorship election, Dr. Dennis Osahon Aikorogie, the candidate for the National Rescue Movement (NRM), has exited the race and aligned himself with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Aikorogie made the announcement at a rally held by the APC on Textile Mill Road in Benin City.
Aikorogie explained his decision to join the APC, citing a commitment to advancing the state’s development.
He expressed support for APC’s gubernatorial candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his running mate, Dennis Idahosa, emphasizing their proven reliability and dedication to action over rhetoric.
He highlighted Okpebholo’s longstanding engagement with the community and his track record before becoming a senator.
He also indicated that more than 5,000 of his supporters would be joining the APC with him.
Aikorogie encouraged voters to focus on the potential benefits of Okpebholo’s leadership for Edo State, including economic growth, job creation, and infrastructure improvements, despite current federal issues.
He believed that Okpebholo, having excelled as a senator, has the capability to drive positive change as governor.
