Adamawa Begins Implementation of ₦70,000 Minimum Wage

The Adamawa State Government has officially implemented the N70,000 minimum wage for its employees, with this month’s salary paid on Friday, August 23.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri had promised that the new wage would take effect from this month.

According to reports, the salary was disbursed as usual on the 23rd of the month, a day typically reserved for payments to state government workers.

Civil servant Amos Tumba confirmed, ‘I can confirm to you that the salary increase has been effected and I received it,’ while Amma Yohanna added, ‘Yes, they have paid, and it’s the new package.’

Governor Fintiri had assured labor leaders on August 19 that the new wage would be applied for August, as confirmed by Emmanuel Fashe, Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state.

However, local government workers are expected to receive the new minimum wage starting in September.
