    Strike: FG, ASUU Meeting Postponed

The scheduled meeting between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has been postponed.

Initially set to take place today, the meeting’s delay was confirmed by ASUU President, Emmanuel Osodeke, following an earlier announcement by the Minister of Education.

No official reason was provided for the postponement, but the meeting has been rescheduled for Wednesday, August 28.

This meeting is crucial as it aims to address issues raised by public university lecturers under ASUU, who have threatened a nationwide strike.

Their grievances stem from the Federal Government’s alleged failure to fulfill the 2009 renegotiated agreement.

ASUU’s demands focus on improving university welfare, securing adequate funding, and addressing concerns about the increasing number of universities across the country.

The postponed meeting is intended to prevent another strike in Nigeria’s public universities.
