Gombe State workers can expect to begin receiving the newly approved N70,000 minimum wage.
This is according to the state’s Deputy Governor, Manassah Jatau.
The state government is finalizing the necessary arrangements to ensure the implementation of this wage increase.
Jatau, who leads the Tripartite Committee on Minimum Wage negotiation for Gombe State, indicated that the administration is committed to enhancing the welfare of its civil servants.
The Deputy Governor, represented by the state’s Head of Service, Ahmed Abdullahi, emphasized Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s dedication to implementing the new minimum wage.
In the meantime, workers will continue to receive a N10,000 wage award until the full implementation of the minimum wage.
This interim payment will cease once the new wage structure is in place.
In July, Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, disclosed that with the lean allocation to the state, it would be difficult to meet the N70,000 minimum wage.
