    Troops Eliminate Terrorists, Seize Arms in Kaduna Operation

    Troops of the 1 Division Nigerian Army in Kaduna have neutralized a terrorist and seized a significant cache of arms and ammunition during a clearance operation.

    The operation, conducted on Sunday in the Sabon Birni, Dogon Dawa, Maidaro, Ngede Alpha, and Rafin Kaji areas, was announced by the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, in a statement on Monday.

    During the operation, troops encountered terrorist elements, resulting in a firefight that led to the death of one terrorist, while others escaped with suspected gunshot wounds.

    The soldiers recovered four AK-47 magazines, a PKT belt with 86 rounds of ammunition, two motorcycles, a Techno mobile phone, a Baofeng Handheld Radio, and a ₦5,000 Airtel recharge card.

    General Officer Commanding the 1 Division Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation WHIRL PUNCH, Major General Mayirenso Saraso, praised the troops for their success and urged them to intensify efforts to make life difficult for terrorists and their collaborators.

    The statement read: “Troops of the 1 Division Nigerian Army, while on a clearance operation on August 25, 2024, made contact with terrorist elements in the Sabon Birni, Dogon Dawa, Maidaro, Ngede Alpha, and Rafin Kaji areas.

    In the ensuing firefight, one terrorist was neutralized, and others fled with suspected injuries. Recovered items include four AK-47 magazines, a PKT belt with 86 rounds, two motorcycles, a Techno mobile phone, a Baofeng Handheld Radio, and an Airtel recharge card worth ₦5,000.”

    Major General Saraso commended the troops for the successful operation and encouraged them to maintain the pressure on terrorists in the region.

    He also thanked the people of Kaduna, Kano, Niger, and Jigawa States for their ongoing cooperation and urged them to continue providing actionable intelligence through the Division’s Toll-Free Line, 0800 002 0204, to assist in further operations against criminal elements.
