The Federal Ministry of Works has directed the contractor responsible for the rehabilitation of the Potiskum-Gashua federal road in Yobe State to implement temporary measures on the damaged section of the road, which was cut off by recent heavy flooding.
Engineer Abdurahaman Bukar, the Acting Controller of Works in Yobe State, visited the affected area and highlighted the importance of the Potiskum-Gashua road as a vital economic route for the state.
“We recognize the difficulties faced by motorists on this road, which was recently severed,” he stated.
“We have instructed J.R.B Construction, the company handling the road’s rehabilitation, to immediately provide temporary solutions that will facilitate the movement of people and goods.”
The 150-kilometer Potiskum-Gashua road has been awarded to two companies for rehabilitation: J.R.B Construction is responsible for section 1, from Potiskum to Fani in Jakusko local government area, while Rocks Seed Construction is managing section 2, from Fani to Gashua.
Engineer Bukar also urged motorists to be patient, assuring them that the government is taking all necessary steps to repair the damaged portion of the road. “The complete rehabilitation will commence soon,” he added.
