NAF Airstrikes Target and Kill Terrorists Near Lake Chad

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) carried out a series of airstrikes in the Jubillaram area, located in the southern Tumbuns near Lake Chad, successfully eliminating several terrorists.

This was disclosed by Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information for NAF, in a statement released on Thursday in Abuja.

Gabkwet noted that the operation was facilitated by the terrorists’ relocation to higher ground due to ongoing heavy rainfall.

He explained that NAF aircraft conducted an air interdiction mission that dealt a significant blow to the remaining terrorists hiding in the area.

“Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions identified terrorists with their salvaged belongings in makeshift shelters, which prompted precision airstrikes that destroyed the structures and neutralized several militants,” he said.

“This operation underscores the NAF’s commitment to fulfilling its mandate and protecting the country from terrorist threats.”

Gabkwet further stated that the excessive rainfall and swampy conditions had inadvertently forced the terrorists out of their usual hiding spots, providing an opportunity for NAF to strike a major blow.

“The airstrike disrupted the terrorists’ stronghold, weakening their ability to carry out attacks, particularly against civilian targets,” he added.

He also mentioned that the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, had directed all Air Component Commanders to ramp up operations against terrorist and criminal groups. The successful strike in Jubillaram demonstrates that these directives are producing the desired results.
