The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO Aviance) has recognized the integrity and honesty of one of its staff members, Auwal Dankode, with a cash reward, an immediate double promotion, and an appointment as the company’s Brand Ambassador.
Dankode’s commendable actions came after he found and returned $10,000 while cleaning an Egypt Air aircraft at the Kano airport.
Dankode, who was assigned with other colleagues to clean the MS 878 flight operated by Egypt Air, discovered the money on seat 25H, which had been left behind by a passenger.
Without hesitation, he handed the cash over to the Airline’s Station Manager.
Speaking at the recognition ceremony held at NAHCO’s Head Office in Lagos on Friday, Indranil Gupta, the Group Managing Director/CEO of NAHCO, praised Dankode for his honesty and embodiment of the company’s values.
Gupta expressed the company’s pride in Dankode’s actions, which reflect the training and principles instilled in NAHCO staff.
He announced the cash reward, instant promotion, and appointment as NAHCO’s Brand Ambassador, stating, “We are truly proud of the exemplary character exhibited by Auwal.
He is a true NAHCO ambassador and an embodiment of what NAHCO stands for honesty, integrity, diligence, and hard work.”
Gupta encouraged Dankode to continue on his path, guided by the values taught by his family, and to grow into a leader who will make NAHCO proud.
Other members of the NAHCO management team also commended Dankode.
Adeoye Emiloju, the Chief Financial Officer, lauded his display of integrity, noting that such honesty is innate.
Didier Steullet, the Chief Operating Officer, advised Dankode to remain grounded despite the adulation he is receiving, particularly on social media, and to continue making a positive impact.
Sola Obabori, the Group Executive Director, highlighted the global recognition that Dankode’s actions have brought to NAHCO.
He remarked, “You’ve become a poster boy of NAHCO not only in Nigeria but all over the world because the internet makes things global.
In today’s Nigeria, where the value of the dollar is so very high, by returning so many of them, you’ve done something commendable.
For you to have seen something as valuable, and give it up, it shows that you’re a man who has purity of heart. This is very commendable and appreciated.”
Dankode’s exemplary behavior serves as a reminder of the importance of integrity and honesty, especially in a time when such values are often tested.
