President Bola Tinubu has committed to investing heavily in the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) to help the organization fulfill its objectives by 2030.
Speaking at DICON’s 60th anniversary and the inaugural African Defence Industries Conference in Abuja, President Tinubu, represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, emphasized that national security is a key priority for his administration.
He highlighted that with the enactment of the DICON Act 2023, DICON is now positioned as a critical component of Nigeria’s Military Industrial Complex. The new legislation provides a solid foundation for advancing defense manufacturing and technology, as well as modernizing the Armed Forces to meet both national and regional security needs.
“As we commemorate this milestone, we also look ahead with a renewed vision aligned with our administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” he stated. “The DICON Evolution Strategy and Road Map 2030, launched today under the DICON Act 2023, is designed to close existing performance gaps in our Military Industrial Complex and to elevate DICON as a global leader, fulfilling the vision of our founding fathers.”
